One reason I started creating art at a young age was because I lived in a pastoral, rural part of Upstate New York. It was a time with little technology in a remote yet beautiful setting. My favorite amusement was drawing and painting. My parents supported my direction: the art of practice, the art of looking, and free thinking would fill up hours a day. The joy and excitement of painting at the age of 5 is still with me when I paint today.

My biggest influences are Henry Moore, Alexander Calder and Jean Miro. I combine the shapes of Moore, the playfulness of Calder and the freedom of Miro into a unique style. My palette is wide and varied, full of bright colors and varied shapes. My artwork would be called playful but not realistic.

Creating metal sculptures is another artistic pursuit that has been rewarding and successful. Others marvel when they realize how I’ve reshaped a one-dimensional form into a three-dimensional flowing shape.

I will forever be grateful for the teachers who provided me the foundation that has lasted my entire life. I learned how to turn my love of painting into hard work, resulting in a career.
